Japan - Powder Heaven

January 2007

Japan here we come! After a successful scouting mission to Japan, Snow Trainers are pleased to announce Ski and Snowboard Courses in Hirafu, Niseko beginning January 2008.

The course will include the internationally recognised New Zealand qualifications, the first time they will ever be conducted outside of NZ.

The 4 mountain pass will ensure you will always have new terrain to explore, and the average snow fall of 14 metres / 46 feet will provide you with more powder days than you´d find at any resort in Canada!

What a fantastic opportunity to gain new qualifications while enjoying some of the best snow in the world. On top of this you´ll be experiencing the wonderful Japanese culture and might even learn a new language in the process.

Aspen - The best of the best.

December 2006

Snow Trainers 06 graduate Krista Whang has been instructing at Aspen in Colorado during the 06/07 winter. What an achievement to be hired by one of the most exclusive resorts in the world in her first season!

Congratulations Krista! Many people instruct for years before being given the opportunity to instruct at Aspen and rub shoulders with the rich and famous.

All the team at Snow Trainers wish her the best and know that Krista is the first of many students to follow in her foot (boot) steps.

Snow Trainers Meet the Pro's

August 2006

With so many pro skiers and snowboarders coming to Queenstown these days it’s hard not to run in to one! Snow Trainers student Georgina Woollam was lucky enough to congratulate Olympic snowboard gold medallist Kelly Clark on another gold medal performance, this time at the Burton Open at Snow Park.

Justin, Matt and Lisa scored autographs from some of the DC team and got a photo with the legendary Travis Parker.

Tim and Brett met their idol, pro snowboarder Devun Walsh!
"You never know who you’ll run into when you’re in the bars in Queenstown" says Snow Trainers Director David Poussard.

The Swedish Connection

October 2006

Snow Trainers first Swedish student Linus Krohn achieved his Snowboard Stage One in 2005.  Linus returned this year to sit the extremely tough New Zealand Snowboard Stage Two exam.

Not many people pass all components on the first try but with some expert coaching from Snow Trainers director David Poussard he was one of the few successful candidates!

Thanks Linus for giving Snow Trainers a 100% pass rate for Stage Two students!!

A Dream Come True

Renowned as being one of the most amazing resorts in the world, instructing jobs at Whistler are extremely sought after and the competition is fierce. Here’s what Ben had to say:

“Today’s the day it all paid off - I just got offered a full time job in Whistler Snowboard School. So I just wanted to say thanks muchly for all your help and training ... big up your bad selves!!”

"I really appreciate your sending so many great applicants our way. I’m very excited about the prospect of so many new faces coming in with some quality training already behind them, including their new certification level" says Okemo Ski and Snowboard School Director Dan Burgeron

Okemo has already offered employment to many of Snow Trainers students and is eager to continue with this fantastic relationship.

From NASA to Snow Trainers, What a Career Break

September 2006

Wow, what a career to take a break from. Brian Gulliver took some time off from his work with NASA to become a Snow Trainers student and passed his exams looking smoother than your average rocket launch.

Brian didn’t mind at all leaving the beautiful weather in Florida to join us in the Queenstown powder, he still brought his lap top to help the guys back at Cape Canaveral but luckily there were no real emergencies!

Brian is a NASA engineer and helped design the “White Room”, an environmental chamber at the end of the access arm that leads the astronauts to the space shuttle.
